Job Description

The Solar Operations & Maintenance Engineer will lead the operational management of CVE South Africa's solar assets and Batteries (BESS), ensuring their sustainable and optimized performance. Plant sizes vary from [size details].

This role involves overseeing the implementation and commissioning of O&M tools, daily monitoring of solar plants, conducting analyses, and providing recommendations to enhance production reliability and forecasting accuracy.

With the support of the in-house engineering department, you are responsible for various construction projects of:

• Operations: Implement and commission O&M tools, monitor daily performance, respond to system alarms, conduct performance analyses, investigate performance issues, integrate new assets, and optimize OPEX.
• Maintenance: Manage maintenance providers, oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, supervise subcontractors, and manage spare parts.
• Asset Management: Establish and optimize budgets, adapt OPEX, handle reporting, manage contracts, oversee production sales, and interface with regulators.

Additionally, support commissioning activities, ensure asset onboarding, lead testing and troubleshooting, and provide technical training as needed.

Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, oversee ISO and certification processes, and promote security, quality, and environmental commitments.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in operations and maintenance management, preferably in the EPC sector.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration highly desirable.
• Strong project management, communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred skills include data monitoring, analysis, reporting, experience with PowerBI, and knowledge of electrical systems, communication protocols, and IT architecture.
