Qualifications
- Grade 12 with Mathematics
- Blasting Ticket (mandatory)
- Certificate in Blasting Technology
- Competent A Certificate - (MQA)
Experience
- 5 years’ demonstrated experience as Blaster (including surface mining, blasting, blast reports, seismograph)
- 3 years’ demonstrated experience in supervising employees
- 3 years’ demonstrated experience in managing costs
Duties
- Works closely with internal and external customers to assess needs and plan operations accordingly.
- Plans and organises resource availability to meet customer requests.
- Protects company assets from theft and damage.
- Ensures proper maintenance and compliance of equipment with standards.
- Operates rollers, bending press, and Guillotine.
- Coordinates building of explosives truck tanks for smooth, timely deliveries.
- Manages stocks and ensures paperwork like store stock is up to date and reconciled.
- Maintains administration, documentation, and storage of information according to BME standards.
- Contributes to the annual budgeting process aligned with department objectives.
- Identifies cost-saving initiatives while meeting customer requirements.
- Conducts necessary incident investigations.
- Ensures staff training is current.
- Monitors the environmental impact of production processes and ensures staff awareness.
- Recruits suitable employees.
- Schedules daily, weekly, and monthly work/shift allocations.
- Conducts induction for new staff members.
- Provides required training to staff as per work requirements.
- Completes any additional ad hoc duties within the designated timeframe.
