Job summary

A leading Independent Power Producer is looking for an Operations Engineer to oversee day-to-day operations at large-scale solar plants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility-scale solar projects and hands-on experience with high and medium voltage systems. Responsibilities include managing Operations & Maintenance activities and writing technical reports. Only South African residents or those with a valid work permit will be considered.

Qualifications

• Proven track record with utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
• Strong hands-on experience with HV and MV systems.
• Minimum 5–10 years in a similar role within the energy sector.

In this role, you'll take charge of the day-to-day operations of large-scale solar power plants. From optimizing performance and solving technical issues to ensuring full regulatory compliance and coordinating with contractors and vendors — you'll be key to keeping our clean energy flowing smoothly.

Job Description:
Overseeing and executing Operations & Maintenance activities for utility-scale solar projects
Writing detailed technical reports and ensuring timely submissions
Traveling to neighboring countries as part of project oversight and support

Skills & Experience:
A proven track record with utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects
Strong hands-on experience with HV (High Voltage) and MV (Medium Voltage) systems
Minimum 5 –10 years in a similar role within the energy or electrical engineering sector
Willingness to travel and get involved on-site when needed

Qualification:
BTech or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering
