Operations Controller (Logistics) required in Johannesburg.

An international logistics company experiencing rapid growth in South Africa is seeking an experienced Operations Controller to join their expanding team. If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and love being hands-on in the freight forwarding process, this role offers you real impact and growth potential.

As Operations Controller, you’ll take over after the procurement team completes their quote, managing shipments from order to delivery across Air, Road, and Sea Freight. You’ll play a pivotal role in the service chain, handling everything from clearing and forwarding to supplier and client coordination.

Salary: R12 000 – R17 000 per month (Negotiable, based on experience).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12, or equivalent.
  • Relevant qualification in logistics or supply chain (advantageous).
  • 2+ years of relevant operations experience in freight forwarding/logistics.
  • Working knowledge of customs procedures and Incoterms.
  • Strong communication skills, with a proactive and flexible attitude.
  • Familiarity with systems like CargoWise and internal OA platforms.
  • Ability to take ownership, solve problems, and thrive in fast-moving situations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end operations for Air, Sea, and Road Freight (import and export)
  • Coordinate and monitor clearing and forwarding processes efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with customs and IncoTerms requirements.
  • Process invoices and apply for supplier payments.
  • Handle client queries, updates, and delivery documentation (PODs).
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
  • Use CargoWise and OA systems for data tracking and administration.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier and client relationships (local and international).
