Operations Controller (Contract Position) - JHB

About the Job:

6 Months Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and track all vehicles to depart and arrive on the agreed time schedule.
  • Ensure freight is collected and lodged by the respective logistics partners.
  • Action and debrief all Couriers checklists; check vehicles, mobile phones/devices, and all PODs prior to debrief.
  • Maintain a presence on the warehouse floor during parcel sorting to ensure correct routing and manifesting of freight.
  • Ensure that drivers have their valid PDP at all times.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner that aligns with the company's interests.
  • Ensure freight on floor reports are clear as well as the 1x1x1 report; check billing daily to ensure closure.
  • Prepare and update stats and reports to hand over to the operations manager.
  • Handle all non-conforming items correctly as per claims procedure; advise and take corrective steps to prevent damages/losses; action all claims within 48 hours in conjunction with the operations manager.
  • Immediately highlight any client issues to management; manage freight as per client requests.
  • During vehicle debriefs, ensure effective debriefing of PODs and collections; institute an investigation if a courier does not return a POD.
  • Encourage professionalism across all levels, peers, departments, and branches.
