Job description

Our client is searching for a Hub and Linehaul Manager to join their team in Benoni.

Basic Function

The Hub and Linehaul Manager is responsible for strategic planning, leadership, and coordination of the Business Unit functions across operational, HR/IR, and financial disciplines. This includes monitoring and analyzing operational efficiencies and cost-effectiveness, as well as overseeing the day-to-day performance of various operational activities.

Responsibilities
  • Customer and supplier service management
  • Management of statutory requirements and relationships with state and semi-state entities
  • Maintaining open and frequent communication channels
  • HR/IR management
Management of Staff Reporting
  • Managing operational processes
  • Administrative duties such as daily KPI reports, overtime schedules, and discrepancy reports

Overall administration functions of this division include managing expenses to ensure cost savings, training, and operational requirements.

Operational Management
  • Managing the division's budgets
  • Analyzing logistics to determine the most cost-effective and efficient transportation methods
  • Directing inbound and outbound logistics operations, such as transportation and warehousing
  • Assessing the financial impact of logistics changes, including routing, shipping modes, product volumes, and third-party carriers
  • Participating in new project development
  • Establishing and implementing short- and long-term goals, policies, and procedures
  • Fostering positive relationships with partners, vendors, and distributors
Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management or Transport Management qualification (advantageous)
Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the transport industry, with at least 5 years in senior operations management
  • Experience in urgent, express, and cross-border road freight
  • Extensive hands-on experience in loading and off-loading break-bulk goods on vehicles ranging from 1 ton to interlinks
  • Materials handling experience, including forklift operation, tie-downs, and Hazchem operations
  • Knowledge of basic environmental health and safety requirements
  • Awareness of EHS corporate objectives and incident reporting
