In this role, you will provide clear direction to the business units on the Operational and Resilience Risk role, strategic plan, and key focus areas. You will also provide relevant coaching, guidance, and training to the businesses on the implementation and maintenance of the Operational and Resilience Risk framework components, including Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Risk indicators, Events, Strategic Risk Assessments, and Key Risk.

Your responsibilities include assessing the level of compliance of the business with relevant risk frameworks and policies, staying up-to-date with the Operational and Resilience Risk framework, policies, standards, procedures, and relevant legislation/regulations, and acting as the specialist in RB business for all elements of the Operational and Resilience Risk framework.

Are You Someone Who Can:

  • Monitor, check, and challenge first line in setting and executing the Operational Risk strategy, leveraging governance and control resources in each business area.
  • Provide thought leadership and drive consistency in the second line approach to Operational risk.
  • Monitor the Combined assurance strategy and participate actively in the assurance forum.
  • Ensure each business area has measures to monitor and manage all sub risk type profiles.
  • Drive the development and implementation of standards.
  • Establish risk appetite with the business to maintain exposure in line with it.
  • Embed Group operational risk standards into all risk-reward decisions and business management.
  • Participate actively in management committees and operational risk forums.
  • Assess, challenge, and monitor current and future exposure to Operational Risk.
  • Support scoping and defining Operational and Resilience Risk deliverables and plans.
  • Ensure business readiness for assurance reviews and deep dives, and discuss issues and actions.
  • Assess the relevance and performance of risk indicators and thresholds.
  • Review key risk assessments and the overall risk profile of business units.
  • Partner with the first line to guide issue/action documentation, tracking, escalation, and remediation.
  • Perform conformance reviews and oversee lessons learned exercises.
  • Review major remediation plans and oversee loss event reconciliations.
  • Assess the key risk framework and reporting accuracy.
  • Provide analytics and insights from reports to senior management.
  • Ensure appropriate reporting and escalation at governance forums.
  • Represent RB in reporting forums internally and externally.
  • Check governance followed by first line and third-party vendors.
  • Manage second line governance where applicable.
  • Participate in assurance activities and develop combined assurance methodologies.

You Will Be An Ideal Candidate If You:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Finance.
  • Have 5 to 8 years of experience in Risk.
