About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive online physics courses, incorporating interactive simulations, virtual labs, and engaging multimedia content.


• Facilitate live online sessions, webinars, and Q&A forums to support student learning and engagement.


• Develop and grade assignments, quizzes, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to students.


• Monitor student progress and engagement through the learning management system (LMS), intervening proactively to offer support.


• Collaborate with curriculum developers and instructional designers to enhance course content and pedagogical approaches for online delivery.


• Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in online STEM education and physics pedagogy.


• Contribute to the development of new online STEM programs and initiatives.


• Provide technical support and guidance to students experiencing difficulties with the online learning platform.


• Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the educational platform.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related STEM field.


• At least 4 years of experience in teaching or curriculum development, with a significant portion focused on online or distance learning.


• Demonstrated expertise in physics concepts and the ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely.


• Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard) and virtual classroom tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet).


• Experience with creating digital learning content, including videos, interactive modules, and simulations.


• Strong understanding of online pedagogy and best practices for remote student engagement.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for a virtual audience.


• Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time effectively in a remote work setting.


• Passion for science education and inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.


• Prior experience with the South African CAPS curriculum is a plus.
