Optimi is looking for a passionate, experienced, and empathetic Online School Counsellor to become a vital part of our dynamic team. We’re looking for someone who not only understands the unique challenges of digital learning but is also deeply committed to the holistic development, mental well-being, and emotional resilience of learners. The ideal candidate will play a key role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive online environment where students from Grades 4–12 can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology plus one other school subject
• PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• Registered with the HPCSA
• 5+ years’ relevant experience
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English
• Experience working with school-aged children or adolescents
• Strong communication and digital skills
DUTIES
• Provide professional, confidential counselling to learners and families.
• Delivery weekly wellness classes and ensure content addresses emotional, social, and lifestyle wellness.
• Foster psychological safety and learner engagement through interactive online tools.
• Develop and lead wellness campaigns and initiatives.
• Collaborate with educators to identify and address wellness concerns.
• Create relevant content for social media platforms.
• Lead monthly educator check-ins and produce termly impact reports.
• Address emotional challenges affecting academics.
• Build trust with learners, families, and educators.
• Stay informed through continuous professional development.
• Host at least two workshops annually for learners and parents
