Online Broker Underwriting Consultant (JG9) - Johannesburg

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, ZA

Job Description

To ensure profitable growth through applying profitable underwriting principles.

Utilise available resources to improve or implement new underwriting practices on claimants.

The successful candidate will be involved in referral underwriting decisions and must be knowledgeable and experienced to provide Insurance Consultants and brokers with creative and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct policy screenings and manage portfolios in accordance with company policy.
  • Underwrite new and existing risks to achieve profitable growth.
  • Handle referrals and the underwriting process.
  • Provide technical underwriting advice, renewals, and broker's appointments.
  • Retain brokers and manage direct renewals using retention and persuasive skills to meet client needs.
  • Create savings opportunities through proactive retention and persuasive skills.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12
  • FAIS requirement: credits in Personal Lines Underwriting (NQF level 4)
  • Computer literate (MS Office and Internet)
  • At least 3 years current experience in Personal Lines Short-term Insurance
  • Re-qualification as required
  • Strong adherence to quality standards and compliance
Knowledge
  • Relevant system knowledge: Policy Centre and call centre applications
  • Thorough knowledge of Personal Lines underwriting
