Job Title : Sales Executive - On Trade

Job Location : Johannesburg

Reports to : Area Sales Manager – On Trade

Organizational Layer : Local

General Description of the Role

In South Africa, we are further developing our solid market presence, founded on the Premium Vodka Market Leader, SKYY, and our expanded portfolio including Cinzano Vermouth, Wild Turkey Bourbon, Grand Marnier, Frangelico, Glen Grant Whiskey, Bisquit Cognac, Espolon, Aperol, Campari, and Appleton Rum.

The Sales Executive is a key role in the local commercial team, responsible for managing and influencing key performance indicators, and driving volume and market share through the sales force.

Trade Management
  • Identify and implement new business opportunities.
  • Formulate account reviews and plans.
  • Manage and maintain assets.
  • Plan, execute, and attend promotions and activations.
  • Monitor competitor trends.
  • Grow menu listings percentages of the brand portfolio.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Increase brand visibility in venues and outlets as per guidelines.
  • Anticipate customer needs and develop solutions.
  • Brief and train promoters on brand guidelines.
  • Monitor sales and depletions for the on-trade market.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Daily, weekly, monthly planning.
  • Identify, prioritize, action, and track market potential opportunities (Volume targets, Market Share, In-trade execution).
  • Meet with key customers as per call schedule.
  • Identify additional opportunities and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor and act against competitor activities.
  • Conduct customer negotiations as required.
  • Fully utilize information systems/tools, including Sales Force Automation.
  • Maintain information authenticity and currency.
  • Ensure information security per Company Policy.
  • Track KPI progress.
  • Control expenditures within budget.
  • Generate, analyze, and act on reports.
Relationship Building
  • Manage and leverage customer relationships.
  • Optimize third-party relationships.
  • Maintain a professional corporate image.
  • Adopt a solution-oriented approach to customer needs.
Key Relationships
  • Internal: Trade Marketing, Marketing, Finance
  • External: 3rd Party Agencies
Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Knowledge of Sales/Marketing principles and practices, especially tailored sales procedures.
  • Knowledge of the liquor industry, particularly On-Trade.
  • Attributes: Relationship building, planning, negotiation, independent work, presentation, self-management, high energy, results-driven, innovative, empathetic, decision-making.
  • Travel: 80%.
  • Qualifications & Experience: Matric, 3-year sales/marketing qualification (advantageous), 3 years FMCG sales & marketing experience, valid driver’s license (Code 08).
