Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Research Fellow in Oncology to join its Soweto-based research unit. You will conduct experiments, analyze data, and collaborate with experienced scientists and clinicians to advance cancer biology and novel therapeutic strategies.

This role targets an early-career scientist eager to build a research profile in a supportive, intellectually stimulating environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and mentorship in oncology research.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Oncology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• Strong foundational knowledge of cancer biology and relevant research techniques.
• Experience with common laboratory techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, and cell-based assays.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A passion for cancer research and a strong desire to learn and contribute.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments to investigate cancer cell signaling pathways and mechanisms of drug resistance.
• Perform cell culture, molecular biology assays, and potentially in vivo studies under supervision.
• Analyze experimental data and contribute to the interpretation of results.
• Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations for scientific dissemination.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
