Position Description:

SEIDOR Networks is looking for an Onsite IT Manager to join a growing team based in Woodmead, JHB.

The Outsourced Onsite IT Manager is responsible for the effective management of IT services and infrastructure at the client site. This role involves overseeing IT operations, managing IT staff (if applicable), ensuring security and compliance, and serving as the primary point of contact for IT-related issues.

The IT Manager works closely with both the client and the service provider to align technology solutions with business needs.

Role Requirements

  • Preferably a tertiary qualification within IT or computer software
  • Minimum 5-6 years of industry-relevant work experience
  • Must be able to travel to and from the client premises in Johannesburg to perform daily duties
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle
  • The position requires a mix of office-based and remote working

Essential Technical Knowledge and/or Experience:

  • Experience in a leadership position and/or managing projects
  • Expansive troubleshooting knowledge
  • A+ / N+ certifications
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
  • At least 2 years’ Microsoft 365 technical work experience
  • Experience with Layer-2 networking and VLANs
  • Experience and understanding of firewalls
  • Advanced Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems experience
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy experience
  • Microsoft Hyper-V knowledge and experience
  • DHCP and DNS knowledge and experience

Good understanding of:

  • Switching / VLANs
  • Routing / NAT / Dynamic Routing
  • Packet flow
  • Email flow and MTA communication
  • UTM and Firewall appliances
  • Wireless networks

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Support & Troubleshooting – Handling IT-related issues for end clients, including computers, software, printers, networks, biometric devices, and CCTV basics.
  • IT Infrastructure Maintenance – Monitoring and maintaining servers, networks, and critical IT systems to prevent downtime.
  • Software & Hardware Upgrades – Managing updates for software, security patches, and hardware improvements (e.g., HDD-to-SSD, RAM upgrades).
  • Cybersecurity Management – Implementing security measures, monitoring for breaches, conducting audits, and managing firewall policies.
  • Budgeting & Procurement – Managing IT budgets, procuring cost-effective hardware, software, and services.
  • Project Management – Overseeing IT projects, such as LMS implementation, network upgrades, and IT planning for new buildings.
  • Training & Workshops – Conducting IT training sessions for staff to improve technology usage.
  • Policy Development – Assisting in IT policy creation and enforcement, including data privacy and acceptable use policies.
  • Department Collaboration – Working with various departments to meet IT needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Emerging Technology Monitoring – Keeping up with new technologies and integrating them into educational processes (e.g., AI Learning in Teams).
  • Vendor & Service Provider Management – Coordinating with IT vendors and ensuring compliance with service agreements.
  • Record Keeping & Documentation – Maintaining IT asset records, licenses, and maintenance schedules.
  • Long-term IT Planning – Developing IT strategies and roadmaps in alignment with the institution’s goals.
