Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Information Security Officer to lead policy and governance initiatives in Benoni, Gauteng. You will develop, implement, and maintain information security policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance and a security-aware culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, with a significant focus on policy development, governance, and compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of information security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) and data protection regulations (e.g., POPIA).
• Proven experience in drafting and implementing corporate policies and procedures.
• Excellent understanding of risk management principles.
• Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy requirements clearly.
• Experience in developing and delivering training materials.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team in Benoni, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update information security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure alignment of security policies with legal, regulatory, and business requirements.
• Oversee the implementation and enforcement of security policies across the organization.
• Conduct periodic reviews of policy effectiveness and update as necessary.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training programs to employees.
• Manage the process for policy exception requests and ensure proper documentation.
• Assist in coordinating internal and external security audits related to policy compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices to inform policy development.
