Job summary

Placements24 in Kimberley, Northern Cape, is seeking a diligent Health and Safety Cleaning Officer to ensure cleaning operations meet health, safety and hygiene standards on-site. You will oversee cleaning staff, conduct safety inspections, deliver safety training, and ensure compliance with South African OH&S legislation.

A relevant OH&S qualification and at least 3 years of safety experience in facilities management are required.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety management, with a focus on cleaning or facilities management.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning practices and standards.
• In-depth understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and risk management principles.
• Experience in conducting safety audits and providing safety training.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and record-keeping.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Must be willing to work on-site in Kimberley.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cleaning staff to ensure adherence to safety protocols and hygiene standards.
• Develop and implement health and safety procedures for cleaning operations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of cleaning areas and equipment.
• Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Provide training to cleaning staff on safe handling of chemicals, equipment, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all South African occupational health and safety legislation.
• Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
• Investigate cleaning-related accidents or near misses and report findings.
• Manage the inventory and safe storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
