Job summary

PBT Group in Cape Town seeks an experienced Microsoft SQL Data Engineer / ETL Developer to transform data into actionable insights for clients across Africa and beyond. The role focuses on end-to-end data acquisition, warehousing, and BI processes, with a strong emphasis on SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS capabilities.

The position offers a competitive monthly salary (R30,000–R60,000) and on-site work environment, with opportunities to mentor others and shape data solutions for diverse industries.

Qualifications

• Extensive MS SQL Data Engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in SSIS and SSRS.
• Proficiency in requirement analysis and database design.
• Knowledge of source systems and dimensional data models.
• Skilled in database and data warehouse modeling.
• Programming experience in relevant languages for data staging and ETL development.
• Deep understanding of SQL and ETL tool capabilities.
• A B.Sc. or related degree is advantageous.
• 2+ years of programming experience.
• Familiarity with SSAS and Data Engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

• Plan and analyse complex business requirements to design and implement technology-enabled solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in analysis, planning, and design activities.
• Develop, modify, and evaluate high-complexity programs in line with specifications.
• Conduct quality reviews and walkthroughs of deliverables.
• Design and develop end-to-end data acquisition processes for data warehouses and data marts.
• Provide guidance and mentorship in business intelligence systems and ETL processes.
• Establish and support standards for data acquisition development.
• Create and execute complex ETL routines ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
