Job description

Our client is a dynamic and ambitious family owned and run export trading business based in Durban that has been in existence for the last 52 years. They specialize in the export of FMCG's, fruit and vegetables, meat, wines and building materials to over 55 countries throughout the world.

They are seeking an Offshore (International) Buyer to join the procurement team that comprises of a team of specialized individuals, experienced in their fields, the products, and services they manage.

The successful incumbent is specialized in Frozen commodities, especially poultry . Offshore / international buying experience is essential!

Procurement for exports is a fast-moving department where one needs to constantly find solutions for problems and being able to multitask is a must. The Offshore Buyer will consistently strive for a beneficial working relationship between them and their international suppliers. This person will also be responsible for communicating between the international suppliers and their internal team, ensuring that new and current orders are flawlessly executed.

Responsible to work closely with our current suppliers and Business Development Managers discussing current brand activations and strategies along with further brand and product development on a per market basis.

POSITION INFO :

Key responsibilities include but not limited to :

• International and local product sourcing of frozen commodities.
• Purchasing / Procurement of International products with existing and new suppliers.
• Development of the company’s’ product range.
• Negotiation of pricing, rebates and settlement discounts.
• Negotiation and handling of claims.
• Handling the negotiation of cycle deals, promotions, and POS material for relevant markets.
• Helping to build and develop new brands for new markets.
• Attending Trade Fairs, local and international travel.
• Experienced in exclusivity, pricing, route to market / value chains, cycle deals, claims process, rebates and settlements.

Requirements :

Skills and experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in international procurement of frozen commodities, ideally frozen poultry and fish.
• Offshore / international buying experience is essential!
• Maintaining and developing supplier relationships
• Understanding of exports, shipping markets and INCO terms.
• Experience in operations and logistics would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Completed Matric with Maths
• Relevant Tertiary qualification will be advantageous
