Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 plus a 4-year BA Degree in Social Work
  • 3 years’ experience in integrated Social Work Practice
  • Understanding and ability to interpret human behaviour
  • Project management skills
  • Adherence to the Code of Ethics in Social Work and professionalism
  • Registration with SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions)
  • Valid vehicle driver’s license
Primary Function

Implement a comprehensive social work service aimed at improving the social functioning of individuals, families, groups, and communities affected by social issues such as food insecurity, illiteracy, health problems, low income, broken family structures, substance abuse, lack of access to developmental support, and building resilience against social challenges using community-based approaches for effective program planning and development.

Key Performance Areas
  1. Conduct social research and planning to collect demographic data, assess community needs, and identify assets to inform program development.
  2. Provide intake services, gather client information, and develop intervention plans for primary and tertiary clients.
  3. Facilitate group work to address common needs through support, therapeutic, and educational groups.
  4. Offer community services focused on advocacy, empowerment, and resilience building, integrating multidisciplinary approaches for holistic development.
  5. Respond to emergencies through crisis intervention as per legislation and policies.
  6. Implement policies and contribute expertise for effective program delivery in line with CoJ policies and SOPs.
  7. Supervise social work students and auxiliary workers to ensure adherence to professional standards and ethics.
  8. Manage confidential data responsibly and maintain proper administrative records.
  9. Perform administrative and management duties as required.
