The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, dedicated, professional, self-starting, and responsible individual to manage and provide high-level administrative, logistical, and secretarial services to the office of the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Office Administration / Management / Public Administration or equivalent at NQF level 7.
- Postgraduate qualification at NQF level 8 or equivalent (advantageous).
- Minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.

- Attention to detail and excellent business writing skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of office administration/management principles and practices at a high level.
- Extensive experience with legislation, procedures, processes, and systems related to office management.
- Advanced knowledge of policies, practices, systems, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Advanced planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality, cost-effectiveness, and safety consciousness.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle confidential matters.
- Sound interpersonal relations and a self-starter attitude.
- Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and internet applications.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the budget and finances of the CEO’s office, including expenditure tracking.
- Manage the CEO’s diary and provide logistical and secretarial support.
- Support procurement and compliance activities.
- Manage the document system for the CEO’s office.
- Arrange travel and accommodation for the CEO nationally and internationally.
- Handle incoming correspondence and communication with stakeholders.
- Provide other office management support services.
