Job description

Provide comprehensive medical services including the treatment of on-the-job injuries and illnesses, medical record keeping, health education, equipment and supplies control, and employee health screening and surveillance programs. Supervisors are responsible for overseeing daily workplace activities; their role extends beyond task assignment to ensuring a safe and healthful environment for employees. Employees should be able to report unsafe or unhealthful conditions without fear of reprisal.

  1. Provide routine and emergency assessment and treatment of on-the-job injuries and illnesses.
  2. Maintain medical, workers' compensation, and hearing files.
  3. Ensure accurate and current OSHA logs.
  4. Act as a liaison between external health professionals, employees, and management.
  5. Train non-medical personnel in First Aid and CPR.
  6. Administer basic drug and alcohol programs.
  7. Maintain and coordinate hearing conservation programs, including annual audiometric testing.
  8. Manage all workers' compensation cases.
  9. Prepare monthly reports related to the area of responsibility.
  10. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  11. Conduct employee orientation and training.
  12. Enforce safe work practices.
  13. Identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  14. Prevent lingering unsafe or unhealthful workplace hazards.
  15. Promote quick return to work programs.
  16. Maintain OSHA certification.
  17. Obtain and maintain Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  18. Maintain EMT certification.
  19. Oversee the safety program overall.
