Job description

South Africa's leader in Waste Management is searching for an experienced Occupational Health Nursing Sister to join their team in Gqeberha.

In order to be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A Matric qualification
  • At least 5 years of working experience in occupational health
  • Chemical industry exposure with experience in this field
  • Valid Certificate in Spirometry
  • Valid Certificate in Audiometry
  • Valid driver's license
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • SASOHN membership

Key Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Manage the administrative and operational activities of the occupational health clinic.
  • Ensure adherence to and implementation of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation related to clinical operations.
  • Manage clinic stock, drug registers, and equipment, including inventory keeping.
  • Implement and maintain a Hearing Conservation Program.
  • Implement supervision and maintenance of a Chronic Disease Management program.
  • Provide primary health care and emergency services within scope of practice.
  • Initiate and facilitate all referrals to Occupational Medical Practitioners or external healthcare providers and services, and follow up on such cases.
  • Implement infection control measures.
  • Perform and monitor medical and biological surveillance according to company protocols.
  • Monitor and analyze health trends and report findings.
  • Follow up on Injuries on Duty cases per company policy.
  • Provide appropriate health education programs to employees.
  • Attend and record minutes of Health and Safety meetings, monthly management meetings, or other relevant meetings.
