VACANCY

OPERATION: MAIDSTONE MILL

JOB TITLE: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE

GRADE: C4

REPORTS TO : SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT (SHE) MANAGER

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality Occupational and Primary Health Care Services to Tongaat Hulett Employees
  • To maintain confidentiality of health information in accordance with professional codes and statutes
  • Dispense medication to patients according to the Medicine and Substance related Act of 1965.
  • Conduct and manage the Company’s surveillance programme
  • Coordination & conducting of annual medicals e.g., occupational screenings such as Vision Screening, Spirometry and Audiometry testing.
  • Attend and respond to on-site medical incidents and follow up with external medical service providers.
  • Attend SHE committee meetings
  • Monthly reporting of Health stats to Corporate office
  • Assess and manage Chronic Diseases
  • Safe keeping of clinic records
  • Undertake clinic administration and report writing
  • Conduct Occupational Health medical assessments and consulting with company Dr where required
  • Maintain Safety, Health and Environment programme at the clinic.
  • Implement and review Health Risk assessments
  • Distribution of monthly Health talks to promote health at all levels of the operation
  • Provide MSDS/Chemical training to relevant employees
  • Inspect and compile reports for sanitation, plant hygiene and amenities for personal hygiene
  • Partake in Emergency drills
  • Organise and lead wellness and health awareness programmes

Qualifications And Experience

  • Grade 12, Diploma or Occupational Health Degree.
  • Certification: Audiometry, Spirometry and Vision Screening are essential.
  • Valid Dispensing medical license
  • Must be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) with full indemnity
  • Minimum of five years’ experience on occupational setting, comprehensive exposure in an Occupational Health Service
  • Able to assess, treat and manage PHC
  • Drivers Licence Code 8 (code B)
  • Strong admin background and proficient in the use of a computer to compile reports, create orders & update stats (MS Office proficiency).
  • Good problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Matured, with excellent communication skills and basic understanding of IsiZulu.
