Introduction
This opportunity exists in the Western Cape region.
We are looking for an Occupational Health Practitioner who will arrange and assist with implementing employee wellness initiatives in the region.
The Occupational Health Practitioner assists and monitors the company's compliance with legal requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide professional occupational and primary healthcare services for staff in stores.
- Advise management on occupational health-focused medical programmes and interventions.
- Provide best practice environmental, health, occupational hygiene, employee wellness, and occupational safety programmes for staff.
- Facilitate the company's Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).
- Manage trauma and injuries, provide preliminary counselling, and arrange further trauma counselling for employees.
- Implement medical surveillance according to employee risk exposure.
- Assist with work-related clinical matters, e.g., incapacity and disability management.
- Advise management and HR on employee salary continuation, disability, and reviews.
- Refer employees to other multidisciplinary teams.
- Facilitate and coordinate Executive Medicals.
- Monitor Occupational Health and Safety legislation compliance.
- Monitor and facilitate IOD claims between stores and COID SUPPORT.
- Coordinate the distribution of store's First Aid supplies.
- Validate employee sick certificates.
- Visitation of hospitalized staff.
- Advise HR and management on staff interdepartmental transfers.
Experience & Qualifications
- A registered nursing practitioner registered and paid up with SANC (advantage).
- Occupational health training qualification and registration with SASOHN (advantage).
- Paid-up indemnity as an OHNP (advantage).
- A valid driver's license.
- This position involves travelling to corporate stores within the Western Cape region (a company car and petrol card will be provided).
