Hire Resolve's client is seeking a Nursing Quality Care Manager to join their team in Cape Town, Western Cape.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that all healthcare objectives of the hospital are met.
  2. Maintain a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, and participating in team problem-solving methods.
  3. Conduct weekly meetings with the catering service to discuss residents' dietary requests and grievances.
  4. Facilitate ongoing communication between residents and their families to ensure a high standard of care.
  5. Provide daily updates on resident status and house bed occupancy.
  6. Ensure proper day-to-day management and organization of the various units.
  7. Maintain bed occupancy in the frail care unit at an optimal 85%.
  8. Approve and screen all admissions, ensuring assessments are completed, and liaise with relevant multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
  9. Create and maintain an environment of dignity, compassion, peace, hospitality, and respect.
  10. Safeguard vulnerable children and elders in care.
  11. Oversee malpractice and indemnity insurance coverage for all staff.
  12. Provide in-service training in accordance with guidelines.
  13. Manage disaster programs following H&S guidelines.

Administration:

  1. Source and recruit the best talent to meet organizational needs.
  2. Implement successful induction processes for all staff based on required contracts.
  3. Perform performance reviews with the Facility Manager according to company policies and the Department of Labour.
  4. Coordinate training for carers, staff nurses, and sisters.
  5. Manage operational schedules, budgets, and healthcare reports.
  6. Review billing and invoices monthly before posting.
  7. Counsel residents and staff as needed.
  8. Maintain nursing supplies inventory, analyze usage reports, and approve requisitions.
  9. Control and record prescriptions within legislative requirements.
  10. Ensure weekly medication schedules are checked and manage hazardous waste disposal agreements.

Compliance:

  1. Maintain nursing guidelines, codes of conduct, and operational policies.
  2. Ensure quality of care by adhering to standards, regulations, and conducting necessary adjustments.
  3. Assist with inspections by health and social departments.
  4. Ensure legal compliance regarding registration, disciplinary procedures, and record-keeping.

Requirements:

  1. Nursing Diploma or related qualification; SANC registered.
  2. At least 10 years of nursing and ward administration experience, with a focus on Geriatrics.
  3. Minimum 3 years in a leadership role with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to prioritize tasks and proficiency in MS Office.
  5. Fully bilingual with fluent written and verbal English communication.
  6. Excellent telephone manner and assertiveness when necessary.
  7. Proven performance management skills.
