Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
- Registered with HPCSA or equivalent regulatory body.
- Previous experience working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Proficiency in operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment and software.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and protocols.
- Clear police clearance
- Valid driver’s license
- Flexibility to operate across multiple sites if required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Perform nuclear medicine procedures with a focus on patient safety, comfort, and quality care.
- Radiopharmaceutical Preparation: Prepare and administer radioactive materials for imaging and therapeutic procedures following strict protocols and safety guidelines.
- Imaging Procedures: Operate specialized imaging equipment such as gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT scanners to acquire high-quality images of internal organs and tissues.
- Image Processing and Analysis: Process, analyze, and interpret nuclear medicine images to assist physicians in making accurate diagnoses and developing treatment plans.
- Quality Control: Perform routine quality control tests on imaging equipment and radiopharmaceuticals to ensure optimal performance and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Radiation Safety: Implement radiation safety measures to minimize exposure risks for patients, staff, and the public
- Collaboration: Collaborate with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize diagnostic accuracy.
- Continuing Education: Stay abreast of advancements in nuclear medicine technology and participate in continuing education and training activities to enhance skills and knowledge
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about nuclear medicine procedures, including risks, benefits, and post-procedure instructions
