Job summary
Ampath Laboratories is seeking a Molecular Scientist to join their National Reference Laboratory. The successful candidate will process specimens, assist in assay development, and maintain quality control. A Bachelor of Science Honours in Molecular Genetics and HPCSA registration is required. This full-time position involves 40 hours a week in a pathology lab environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in pathology laboratory environment is required.
- HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Process specimens according to set criteria and standards.
- Assist with developing and evaluating Assays.
- Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks.

Purpose of Position:
To process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Honours: Molecular Genetics (Required), HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field (Required)
Required Experience:
Experience in pathology laboratory environment, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the developing and evaluating of Assays, Assist with the training of learner scientists to ensure competence, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath, Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld, Receive and process specimens in order to ensure efficient delivery of results
