Job summary

Oostelike Personeel Konsultante in South Africa is seeking an Inventory Controller to oversee the full lifecycle of automotive parts, manage stock integrity, and coordinate with suppliers. You will lead counts, monitor levels, and optimize storage for efficient picking and timely deliveries.

The role requires supervising warehouse staff, enforcing safety standards, and using ERP/WMS systems to track orders and performance reports.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full inventory lifecycle for automotive spare parts, accessories, oils, tools, and workshop consumables.
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts, cycle counts, and audits to ensure system numbers align with physical stock.
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking; establish reorder points based on historical sales and seasonal demand.
  • Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged inventory and recommend clearance or disposal strategies.
  • Label, categorize, and organize stock into designated bin locations for optimized picking efficiency.
  • Inspect all incoming deliveries for accuracy, quality, and transit damage against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Supervise the picking, packing, and dispatch of automotive parts to technicians, retail counters, or external buyers.
  • Process returns, warranty claims, supplier credit notes, and core exchange parts in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and secure storeroom facilities to maximize storage capacity and prevent loss or theft.
  • Coordinate with auto parts manufacturers, distributors, and aftermarket vendors to source required components.
  • Negotiate competitive lead times and pricing where applicable.
  • Track outstanding purchase orders and follow up with vendors on delayed shipments.
  • Lead, train, and schedule daily activities for warehouse assistants, pickers, and drivers.
  • Enforce workplace health and safety protocols (OSHA / local regulatory standards), particularly regarding hazardous materials (e.g., batteries, fluids, paints).
  • Promote a high-standard culture of accuracy, safety, and accountability within the storeroom.
  • Operate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to log stock movements and track orders.
  • Prepare periodic inventory performance reports, including turnover rates, shrinkage reports, and variance analyses.
