Job description

Our Client is looking for a Service, Networking & Connectivity Engineer with strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to infrastructure management. You’ll play a critical role in monitoring and maintaining our IT systems, ensuring high availability and security across our environment. This position is to be based onsite in Hammersdale (Cato Ridge).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage all IT infrastructure using tools like PRTG and N-Central in accordance with SOPs.
  • Perform proactive infrastructure maintenance, including servers and switches.
  • Provide after-hours and occasional weekend support for infrastructure emergencies and maintenance.
  • Administer Office 365 Tenant, Azure, and SharePoint Online.
  • Conduct regular backup monitoring and testing in line with RPO/RTO expectations.
  • Evaluate and improve current systems; provide recommendations for enhancements.
  • Configure and troubleshoot FortiGate firewalls and switch VLANs.
  • Support and configure controller-based and controllerless WiFi APs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to the IT knowledge base.
  • Provide 2nd line support across systems and networks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) / Grade 12.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field and/or relevant industry certifications (MCSE, MCITP, Azure Administrator, etc.).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a mid-senior Systems Engineer or similar role.
  • Solid experience with Windows Server environments (2012–2019), including DNS, AD, AADS.
  • Experience in MS Tenant Administration (Azure AD, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online).
  • Basic knowledge of networking, FortiGate firewalls, and Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity practices and related monitoring/evaluation.

Inherent Requirements:

  • Willingness to work extended hours, be on standby, and perform nighttime/weekend maintenance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or lift equipment (PCs/servers) as needed.
  • Comfortable working in cold environments (e.g., server rooms).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transport.
