Job summary

Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years experience in a network environment.
  • Huawei HCIE Datacom / WLAN or equivalent certification is required.
  • Specialization in Wireless Networks, Industrial Networks, Perimeter Security, or Data Centre is advantageous.

Job description

PURPOSE : Responsible for testing and analysis in all elements of network facilities, including power and software.

Produces complex designs, design policies, strategies, architectures, optimisation, and documentation within the area of speciality.

Responsible for high-level problem resolution, policy implementation, and monitoring.

FORMAL EDUCATION :

Grade 12 (NQF 4)

EXPERIENCE :

5 – 7 years experience in a network environment

TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION :

Huawei HCIE Datacom / WLAN or equivalent product certification

Specialization in Wireless Networks, Industrial Networks, Perimeter Security (Network), IPsec Tunnelling, or Data Centre is advantageous.

VOIP (System specific) certification is advantageous.

Maintain acceptable billability ratio.

Manage tools of trade:

Responsible for application and maintenance of assigned equipment (Cell phones, laptops, or other relevant tools).

Manage operational expenses, reduce operational costs, and control stock.

Coordinate logistics with the Logistics Coordinator, prepare stock for movement, and issue parts to end users as needed.

Customer Perspective - Incident resolution :

Proactively escalate unresolved events, incidents, and service requests to stakeholders.

Planning and design :

Collaborate with clients and users to determine operational requirements within technology and budget constraints.

Audit hardware and software before and after release changes, produce network release documentation, and provide training as per customer requirements.

Follow quality methodologies to meet process milestones and deliver project tasks aligned with larger objectives.

Document requirements in technical specifications and topologies.

Internal Perspective - Build and transition :

Contribute to rollout planning, including deployment methods.

Timely risk escalation and issues :

Complete checklists defining service completion criteria, communicate releases, provide training, and support post-deployment.

Operate and maintain :

Support networking devices manually or remotely, perform firmware rollouts, and monitor network efficiency, recommending improvements.

Service provider management :

Liaise with external service providers during events or incidents.

Process compliance :

Adhere to ISO, ITIL, and OEM standards and best practices.

Training / operation hand-over :

Ensure staff training and access to tools when tasks are delegated.

Learning and Growth Perspective :

Keep CV updated on the talent management system and participate in personal development activities.

Engage in knowledge sharing within the team and communities of practice.
