Job description

FORMAL EDUCATION : Grade 12 (NQF 4). A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in ICT will be an advantage.

EXPERIENCE : 5-7 years of experience in a network environment. Understanding the strategic composition of a world-class ICT network company. Ability to assess customer infrastructure and translate this into Network Engineering guidelines. Proven leadership skills to manage a team of network specialists in daily operations, configuration, and fault diagnosis. Ability to communicate complex network topics effectively to management and executive audiences. Advanced diagnostic skills in complex network fault finding across all technologies. Solid experience with Arista DC-LAN infrastructure.

Certifications are an added advantage:

• Hands-on experience on live production networks.
• Knowledge of Routing and Switching, Wireless LAN, DC LAN, Network Traffic Shaping, UC, VC, and IPT technologies.
• CCIE certification and additional Cisco specializations.
• Fortinet NSE4 Certified; NSE7 certification is advantageous.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Guide the company on market trends and ICT strategic directions.
• Research and advise on new technologies to future-proof network solutions.
• Design detailed low-level engineering solutions from high-level concepts for deployment.
• Collaborate with Pre-Sales to develop competitive networking solutions.
• Provide technical guidance to the networking team.
• Demonstrate expertise in network design and engineering.
• Recommend improvements to client and internal processes to maximize benefits and retention.
• Utilize technical skills to assess and advise on practical solutions, considering operational realities.
• Lead high-level problem management following ITIL processes.
• Establish monitoring, incident logging, and reporting mechanisms.
• Develop and implement departmental processes and procedures.
• Review draft solutions for technical viability and suitability for clients.
• Identify external expertise when necessary.
• Ensure technology aligns with client needs and educate clients on technology use.
