Job summary

A leading technology services provider in South Africa is seeking a Technical Support resource to manage and support IT networks across multiple sites. The role requires remote troubleshooting, after-hours support, and inventory management of the network systems. Ideal candidates will possess skills in network troubleshooting and configuration and be available for standby duty.

  • Logging and updating calls via the ticketing system.
  • Maintaining Security, IT, and Environmental networks across all sites.
  • Managing Wi-Fi networks on all sites, including monthly health reports.
  • Providing after-hours user support as per the standby roster.

Job description

The key function of this position is to be a technical support resource supporting the local network for Power Monitoring, IT, and Security. The role involves occasional travel to outside stations for upgrades and changes. Availability after hours and standby duty are required. The role also serves as an escalation point for Tier 1 support.

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

The main functions of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Remote IT network troubleshooting and support, primarily Layer 2;
  • Logging and updating calls via the ticketing system;
  • Interacting with other providers and service providers;
  • Collaborating with management;
  • Maintaining Security, IT, and Environmental networks across all sites;
  • Managing Wi-Fi networks on all sites, including monthly health reports;
  • Maintaining the network backup tool;
  • Designing and maintaining network documentation;
  • Configuring, installing, and maintaining network switches;
  • Managing and implementing Clearpass switch configurations and device updates;
  • Ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, especially information security policies;
  • Identifying and escalating information security risks related to the network;
  • Incident response and problem resolution within agreed timelines;
  • Providing after-hours user support as per the standby roster.
