Job summary

Biovac, a leading vaccine manufacturer in Africa, seeks a skilled IT Network Engineer in Cape Town to maintain and advance IT/OT network operations. You will provide expert technical support, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure secure, reliable connectivity across production environments.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of networking experience with Fortinet hardware, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and with partners to uphold

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS or equivalent work experience.
• 5–10 years in networking with Forti hardware.
• CompTIA Network+ is required.
• NSE Level 1–3 or equivalent is required.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for IT/OT networks and ensure reliable operation.
• Respond to network incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate with internal teams and third-party service providers for maintenance and upgrades.

BIOVAC is one of the leading sterile vaccine manufacturers rooted in Africa, with our core purpose being to "protect life". We are looking to hire a dynamic, passionate, confident, proactive and meticulous Network Engineer to join a goal-oriented team.

Job Purpose:

The IT Network Engineer is responsible for providing advanced technical support and expertise to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of Biovac’s IT / OT networks.

Minimum qualification(s):

Required:

• CompTIA Network+.
• Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) Level 1–3 or equivalent networking certification.
• Bachelor’s Degree, or technical institute degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience.

Additional Advantage:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Experience & industry knowledge:

Required:

• 5–10 years in networking experience Forti hardware
• Hands-on experience with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software configurations.
• Strong understanding of OT environment in production industry
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to respond to network incidents and assist in root cause analysis
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage and hold third party Service providers accountable
• Keen eye for detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles

Additional Advantage:

• Working knowledge of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing related legislation
• At least 3 years’ experience at supervisor level
• Experience in quality and regulatory compliance within a cGMP
