Job summary

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking an ICT Networks Specialist to monitor and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure, focusing on networks and data flows.

The role requires hands-on experience with Layer 2/3 networks, Cisco/Dell/Aruba devices, and firewall support, and strong problem-solving and collaboration with service providers.

On-site in South Africa, driving 24/7 uptime and continuous improvement across the network environment.

Qualifications

• NQF 5 Higher Certificate in an Information Technology field.

• 3–5 years in a related ICT networking role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and test routing and redundancy for Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks.
• Ensure uninterrupted business continuity during network failures.
• Assist with Palo Alto firewall implementation.
• Capture correct authorisations for changes per license agreements.
• Monitor network performance and respond to alerts.
• Update network diagrams and ensure 24/7 uptime.

Job description

Minimum Qualifications

• Have NQF 5 (Higher Certificate) in an Information Technology field

Requirements

• Have a clear security screening record.
• Be medically fit to work in the specific business area.
• Have a valid driver's license
• Have at least 3-5 years' experience in a related role.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and recommend enhancement on routing and routing redundancy for Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks in the most efficient manner
• Ensure available options are identified and tested to maintain uninterrupted business continuity in the case of network failures
• Understand and support and assist with implementation of Palo Alto firewalls
• Ensure that the correct authorisations requested for creation, deletions and moves are correctly captured within the system and comply with the license agreements
• Ensure the proactive use of applicable tools to monitor network performance and be alerted when set thresholds are reached and action the alerts
• Updating of network diagrams
• Manage and maintain the delivery of networks and the uptime
• Provide daily backup of critical data in the communications environment
• Follow change control process for any changes
• Ensure all ICT networks are documented, and records kept up to date of IP addressing and routing
• Implementations in the current data communications network structures and the identification of areas for improvement and short- and long-term plans to remedy these
• Ensure 24/7 uptime on network
• The corrected firmware levels of the equipment are applied
• Ensure the network infrastructure has sufficient capacity to satisfy the data requirements (no congestion)
• Effective liaison with Service Providers to ensure efficient service delivery
• Provide a stable platform for the delivery of ICT computer systems which meet current and future business requirements
• New and changing technical advances are anticipated and factored into network communications solutions in conjunction with overall architecture
• Implement the rollout of firmware updates, network rearrangements, and the installation of new equipment and facilities with Repair, and Field Operations, minimizing Customer impact and maximizing the productivity of resources
• Implement new Installations and upgrades are planned with reference to the Enterprise Technical Roadmap and standards
• Co-ordinate and assist in all new fire installations surface and ensure redundancy where possible
• Optimisation of the networks to meet the specific demands of the business
• Have solid experience in Cisco, Dell, and Aruba configurations and maintenance
• The corrective patch levels of the equipment are maintained
• Ensure fibre and physical link failures are identified and repaired as quickly as possible
• Ensure that all networking devices have a reliable backup to be used to restore switch and networking equipment faster
• Patching of hardware and software is maintained to an acceptable level
• Planning monitoring and maintenance of routing
• Implement and position the data and voice communications network to meet current requirements and future business challenges
• Liaise with business units to understand current and future requirements

• Ensure fibre and physical link failures are identified and repaired as quickly as possible
• Be able to Install, configure, upgrade, monitor, maintain and administer all network related functions in Sibanye on the Local Area network infrastructure
• Optical fibre splicing within the business and to ensure fibre networks has got stable links with minimal DB losses as far as possible to ensure links function optimally
• Have solid experience in Cisco, Dell, and Aruba configurations and maintenance
• Co-ordinate and assist in all new fire installations surface and ensure redundancy path where possible

Job Purpose

• To constantly monitor the Sibanye IT Infrastructure (Networks, servers and desktops) and to provide a support service to customer in line with SLA's.
