Job description

The position is based in Nelspruit.

KEY OUTPUTS
  1. Manage the functioning and administration of the High Court Unit.
  2. Manage legal aid to the poor within the jurisdiction.
  3. Supervise and guide the High Court Unit Legal Practitioners.
  4. Manage the allocation of cases to private practitioners (Judicare) in High Court cases.
  5. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the annual budget for the Unit.
  6. Ensure sound management of the Unit's finances and assets.
  7. Manage the client database on Sebenza.
PETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES) REQUIRED
  • A recognised tertiary legal qualification (LLB or B.Proc).
  • Admitted Attorney or Advocate with the right of appearance in the High Court.
  • At least 12 years post-qualification legal experience, with 10 years post-admission, including 4 years court experience.
  • Minimum three years management experience.
  • A valid Code 08 driver's license is advantageous.
  • Excellent leadership and people development skills with a proven record in training.
  • Experience in budget preparation and management.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Innovative, creative, and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies.

Salary: R, .00 (All-inclusive package) per annum (CM -1). The ideal candidate is a senior Attorney or Advocate, well-regarded in the legal fraternity, with a proven track record in criminal and civil litigation, motivated, self-driven, mature, and a team player.
