Natural Sciences & Mathematical Literacy Teacher (Grades 8-12)

The school at Hermannsburg, established in 1856, is situated between Greytown and Kranskop in the beautiful, natural surroundings of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. As the oldest existing independent co-educational boarding school in KZN, we provide a quality educational environment upon a campus steeped in history.

Due to growth in scholar numbers at our school over the past two years, we invite applications for the full-time position of:

Natural Sciences & Mathematical Literacy Teacher (Grades 8-12)

ideally starting on 14 July 2025 or earlier.

The ideal candidate is one who:

  • has a track record of academic excellence and relevant teaching experience with Mathematical Literacy (Grades 10-12) and Natural Sciences (Grades 8-9);
  • has a minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching in an IEB-aligned school, teaching according to the IEB SAGs and principles;
  • is S.A.C.E. registered;
  • is informed of the latest developments and best practice in Mathematical Literacy and Natural Sciences in an IEB environment;
  • collaborates openly and keenly with colleagues, both within the department and across subject disciplines;
  • has sound skills in accurate planning and administration;
  • aligns with the school’s Ethos, Vision and Mission;
  • is self-motivated to constantly seek personal improvement and growth;
  • is willing to contribute to the school’s extra-curricular, wellness and/or cultural programmes;
  • has evidence of clearance with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register;
  • is willing and able to teach other subjects at GET / FET levels – this would be an added advantage;
  • has a working knowledge of PERMA-V.

The successful candidate must be a dynamic, passionate teacher, who will fully engage with our Hermannsburg scholars so that they flourish in both the classroom and in other aspects of their lives. This person should be proactive and keep abreast of innovation in education, with a genuine enthusiasm, commitment and passion for education in South Africa.
