SUMMARY :

A global leader in the agrochemicals industry is seeking an experienced National Sales Manager to lead the Agricultural Sales division. The role involves managing and developing a high-performing sales team and sales-related functions, providing regular feedback to the country manager and stakeholders, with the goal of driving business growth in South Africa.

POSITION INFO :

Minimum requirements for the role :

  • Must have a tertiary qualification in Business Management.
  • Minimum 10 years’ business experience, with extensive leadership background in high-level management positions.
  • In-depth understanding of the industry's market dynamics.
  • Solid financial expertise and comprehension of business strategy.
  • Well-versed in crop protection products, including fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides.
  • Good communication skills in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel nationally.

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Developing and monitoring annual budgets, selling costs, and sales forecasts to achieve targets while maintaining transparency and closing sales gaps.
  • Implementing distributor and agent contracts, managing forecasts, products on the ground, etc.
  • Creating strategic sales plans aligned with marketing efforts to meet budget goals and develop pricing strategies to maintain ROI and margins.
  • Managing loyalty programs with customers and ensuring timely payments to minimize outstanding balances.
  • Planning and executing sales activities such as farmer days, product launches, and crop campaigns on schedule.
  • Collaborating with the commercial excellence team on sales strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with business ethics internally and along the value chain.
  • Working with the financial controller, supply chain, technical, and marketing teams to keep them informed of sales activities.
  • Aligning sales activities with parent product and brand strategies while promoting CRM/Salesforce tools.
  • Managing the sales team’s standards, expectations, and goals for sustainable ROI and budget achievement.
  • Using effective leadership to motivate and develop the sales team and agents, fostering a high-performance culture through continuous feedback, coaching, and development plans.
