Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng

Work Type: Full Time

Job Purpose: The National Sales Manager will be responsible for leading, managing, and motivating a team of regional sales representatives and agents across the country.

This role focuses on driving sales performance, expanding market share, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring the team meets or exceeds business targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a national team of sales representatives and independent sales agents.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor sales staff and agents.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching for improvement.
  • Set clear objectives and KPIs for the team.
  • Develop and implement national sales strategies in line with company goals.
  • Monitor sales performance by region and channel.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging and service levels across all regions.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues promptly and effectively.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, client meetings, and events.
  • Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management.
  • Monitor and manage budgets and expenses.
  • Utilize CRM tools to track pipeline activity and sales performance.
  • Ensure field execution of sales plans.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (marketing, logistics, finance) for seamless operations.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5–7 years in a sales management role, preferably with national exposure.
  • Proven experience managing field teams and/or agents.
  • Strong background in retail/FMCG/wholesale sectors.
  • Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and data-driven decision-making.
  • Comfortable with travel and fieldwork.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or similar (advantageous but not essential depending on experience).
