Job description

BDO has a vacancy for a National Risk Officer - Legal.

The successful incumbent will:

  1. Draft and negotiate contracts.
  2. Review existing contracts.
  3. Manage contracts effectively.
  4. Provide ad hoc support as needed.

Ensure compliance with various laws:

  1. Review company practices and processes to ensure compliance with relevant laws, especially those pertaining to the company's specific business.
  2. Make recommendations to improve efficiencies.
  3. Collaborate with various committees to enhance company structure, governance, and compliance.
  4. Negotiate, draft, review, and vet contracts to align with corporate governance principles such as disclosure, transparency, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
  5. Provide strategic legal advice and draft legal documents.
  6. Assess the impact of legislative, regulatory, and code changes on internal processes and policies.
  7. Stay updated on legal trends by reviewing applicable legislation and case law.
  8. Analyze company policies and propose solutions to ensure compliance with legislation and business needs.

Stakeholder relationship management:

  1. Engage with Group business units, functions, and external stakeholders on legal matters and disputes.
  2. Communicate with customers, suppliers, and their legal advisors regarding legal issues.
