Tasks and Responsibilities

The National Project Specialist will contribute to the implementation of project activities, including:

  • Serving as the primary liaison with stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Acting as the main conduit for daily communication with stakeholders, providing timely feedback and updates.
  • Managing daily project tasks, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring activities stay on schedule.
  • Assisting in budget monitoring and coordinating administrative tasks to support overall project management.
  • Leading the customization and delivery of technical training sessions and capacity-building workshops.
  • Collaborating with the Programme Coordinator to align project activities with national animal health policies and government priorities.
  • Participating in steering committee meetings.
  • Supporting consultants in assessing training needs of government officers and community animal health workers.
  • Assisting in the development and customization of training materials related to epidemiology, surveillance, response strategies, and project-specific topics in collaboration with DALRRD veterinary body.
  • Delivering training sessions for stakeholders such as government animal health officials, community healthcare workers, and laboratory personnel.
  • Fostering an interactive learning environment that encourages participation and knowledge sharing.
  • Working with the Project Coordinator and DALRRD focal point to evaluate training effectiveness and incorporate feedback for improvements.
  • Preparing comprehensive workshop reports summarizing outcomes, feedback, and future recommendations.
  • Providing regular progress updates to the Programme Coordinator, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Sharing lessons learned and insights with the project team, including the International Expert and technical officers at SFS, RAF, and HQ.
  • Participating in country missions with project partners, including One Health Initiatives.
  • Undertaking other relevant tasks as mutually agreed and deemed necessary by the FAO Representation.
  • Supporting the timely preparation and submission of periodic project reports.

Candidate Requirements

  • A university degree or qualification in Life Sciences.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the animal health sector.
