Join a leading logistics and supply chain organisation as the National Manager: Group Fleet
Our client is a respected and well-established logistics business providing integrated distribution and supply chain services. With a strong national footprint and a commitment to operational excellence, they are seeking a seasoned professional to take ownership of their fleet and facilities portfolio. The successful candidate will lead a team in managing a large, mission-critical fleet of vehicles and ensure that premises across the country meet high standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the strategic and operational management of the national fleet, ensuring all vehicles are maintained to high standards and meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Lead and empower a team of direct and indirect reports to deliver best-in-class fleet and facilities operations.
- Manage service providers and ensure maintenance, repairs, certifications, and licensing are executed efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Drive fleet standardisation, optimisation, and full lifecycle utilisation in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, legal, and environmental legislation, particularly in handling pharmaceutical goods and medical devices.
- Develop and implement fleet and facilities policies to support strategic goals, enhance efficiencies, and ensure operational resilience.
- Monitor and manage fleet-related budgets, ensuring expenditures remain within approved limits and cost-saving initiatives are implemented.
- Analyse operational reports and present actionable recommendations to support executive decision-making.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and strategic partners to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Uphold high standards across all premises, ensuring they are well-maintained and compliant with distribution and documentation best practices.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- 10–12 years of progressive experience in fleet management, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated success managing large vehicle fleets in a logistics, supply chain, or similar operational environment.
- Strong financial acumen with proven experience in budgeting, cost control, and supplier contract negotiation.
- Proven experience managing distributed teams and leading operational excellence initiatives.
- Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
- A diploma in fleet management, business management, or a related field is essential.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong working knowledge of South African fleet and transport laws, logistics best practices, and safety regulations.
