Role Overview
The incumbent is responsible for defining maintenance strategies, workforce budgets, training, qualification requirements, and subcontracting policies based on facility type, equipment, and process needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop maintenance plans and manage the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for reliable operations.
- Track KPIs, control budgets and resources, manage spare parts, and ensure regulatory and contractual compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement through incident and cost analysis.
- Lead standards implementation, provide technical project support, collaborate on improvements, report on performance, oversee audits, and manage subcontractors to enhance efficiency and asset reliability.
- Define and implement maintenance strategies for various installations, including site maintenance, develop work instructions, identify critical spare parts, and ensure their availability.
- Manage maintenance KPIs like planned/unplanned maintenance, MTBF, TCM, TCO, and ensure activities are tracked in CMMS.
- Participate in professional communities, analyze safety and reliability incidents, customer claims, and costs to identify improvements.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, programs, and plans aligned with overall strategy and procurement policies.
- Drive performance improvements through regional managers and ensure effective implementation of the Industrial Management System.
- Coordinate training and qualification programs, support technical aspects of offers and contracts, and participate in investment decisions.
- Define process improvement objectives, analyze performance indicators, and develop strategies aligned with regulations (e.g., OHS Act, PER, GMR, EMR, SANS) and customer contracts.
- Set annual objectives based on potential savings, report CMMS data monthly, and manage internal audits and corrective actions.
- Oversee financial controls, maintenance inventory, and critical spare parts management.
- Manage EIS on CMMS, act as Design Authority for projects, and develop SLAs with procurement to ensure subcontractor compliance with HSE policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- 3-5 years in people management; 10-15 years in maintenance management, preferably in industrial gases or chemical plants.
- Knowledge of safety, environmental legislation, maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS), KPIs, and industry-specific regulations (PER, SANS).
- Understanding of industrial gas equipment and applications.
