National Key Accounts Manager - Shoprite

Midrand, South Africa

Overview

To take the lead role in developing the Shoprite account to deliver on business objectives for both SC Johnson and Shoprite, playing a strategic role by engaging with National & regional buyers, DC role players, and maintaining and growing relationships across all levels of engagement.

Responsibilities :
  • Financial : Achieve agreed volume, net sales, and gross profit targets. Ensure timely execution of price increases.
  • Effectively manage trade spend according to business mandate.
  • Ensure proper financial controls are implemented and adhered to within your account.
Planning And Reporting
  • Develop and implement customer business plans (Joint Business Planning).
  • Maintain forecast accuracy and track key account metrics, sales performance, and market trends.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations summarizing account activities, sales results, and growth opportunities.
Customer Relationship
  • Meet with regional buyers at least once a month and with the national category manager quarterly.
  • Ensure top-to-top meetings with head buyers at least twice a year.
  • Drive category development with the customer through our category team.
  • Present insight-driven business reviews during customer meetings.
Internal Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Customer Marketing team to deliver best practice POP initiatives.
  • Lead annual trading terms discussions and prepare trade spend investment proposals.
Administration
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers, providing technical support and resolving issues.
  • Maintain records of all contact reports and ensure proper filing of relevant information.
  • Ensure business trackers are updated with customer details and claims.
Execution
  • Manage shelf health and execute according to the Category Team strategy.
  • Achieve new product launches and promotional activities as scheduled.
  • Engage with field operations biweekly to ensure effective distribution and merchandising.
Data & Strategy
  • Deeply understand the customer’s business, industry, goals, and challenges.
  • Use customer data solutions for strategic planning and market analysis.
Experience & Skills
  • Degree/Diploma in Marketing, Business Management, or extensive relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and customer data systems.
  • More than 3 years' experience managing the Shoprite national account.
  • Advanced knowledge of Shoprite processes.
