Boardroom Appointments is seeking a dedicated Customs Manager to oversee the Johannesburg customs function, ensuring compliant practices and efficient clearance for imports and exports. You will lead and train the team, implement streamlined procedures, advise on tariff classifications, and handle client queries while maintaining SARS compliance.

The role requires thorough knowledge of customs regulations, prior leadership experience, and the ability to coordinate with national teams to roll out

Qualifications

• Matric with relevant tertiary qualification.
• 3–5 years in a similar customs role.
• Thorough knowledge of customs procedures and laws.
• Knowledge of Jacobsonss Tariff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day customs clearances for import and export to avoid penalties.
• Train junior staff in clearing formalities.
• Set up streamlined procedures for operations and customs staff.
• Advise on correct tariff classifications.
• Attend to clients with customs queries.
• Follow up refund applications to finality.
• Ensure SARS compliance within the region.
• Roll out internal customs procedures nationwide.
• Conduct monthly reviews with National Customs Managers.
