Job description

Applicants must have proof of residence as part of the submission from ward councilors/municipal billing systems confirmations. Construction businesses from the above categories are encouraged to apply. Please refer to the application form.

1. SMME CONTRACTOR DEVELOPMENT - CIDB GRADES 1 - 5

The programme targets CIDB registered contractors with a grading designation of 1 - 2 (pre-incubation programme) and 3 - 5 (mainstream), for emerging contractors. The programme aims to develop these contractors through mentorship, training, office infrastructure, and support to become sustainable contracting entities. These programmes will be conducted either virtually via digital platforms or face-to-face.

Preference will be given to contracting entities that:

  • Have CIDB Grade 1 - 5 in GB, CE, EB, EP ME, SQ, SK, SF, SM, SJ, SN, SO & SH classes of works;
  • Are owned by residents of City of Johannesburg Metro Municipality (Midrand/Diepsloot) and surrounding areas;
  • Are EME and QSE emerging businesses owned by Black Women, Youth, and People with Disabilities;
  • Are owned by South African Citizens (foreign-born citizens who have been naturalized do not qualify);
  • Have returnable documents as per the table below;
  • Have a project track record linked to the selected class(s) of works.

The following businesses will NOT be considered:

  • Individuals in the service of the state (even with approval from their employers);
  • Contractors already enrolled in another contractor development programme;
  • Participants unwilling to commit to the training obligations of the programme;
  • Foreign nationals residing in South Africa, even if naturalized.

Due to limited space, only contractors meeting the qualification criteria will be selected. Applications can be submitted at NCI’s branches or via email. A submission box will be available at various branches.

2. Construction and Green Products Manufacturers

Manufacturers must have a registered company, a business plan/profile on green product (renewable energy) manufacturing, and compliant documents.

3. Professionals in Built Environment (BEP)

Professionals in the Built Environment should possess a formal qualification and motivation to participate in a mentorship programme. The NCI BEP Programme 2024 aims to assist graduates with business development and technical support to establish or grow their businesses.

  • Provide access to resources (office infrastructure) and professional registration for 12 months.
  • Assist in preparing close-out reports for submission.
  • Offer training in entrepreneurship and new venture creation.
National Incubator

Apply for the Contractor Development Programme 2024/25 FY. Applicants must be from Midrand/Diepsloot.

The programme promotes sustainable development of small to medium-sized Built Environment companies, focusing on skills development, revenue growth, and capacity building for infrastructure projects. Duration: 6 months to 3 years.

EOI documents will be available online for free from 15 September 2023, 12:00 on the NCI website www.natci.org.za. Questions regarding the EOI are accepted until 16:00 on 01 October 2023, via email to Dineo Hoho at dhoho@natci.org.za. Closing date: 06 October 2023, 16:00.

Returnable documents include:

  • CIDB registration, SARS PIN, CIPC documents, CSD Number, MAAA, recent (<3 months) bank statements, BBBEE/Affidavit, CVs, project awards/letters of intent, qualifications, training certificates, registration with SETA/professional bodies, motivational letters, business plans, profiles, statements, management accounts.
