Placements24 is supporting a busy professional family in Centurion, Gauteng, to hire a compassionate nanny and educational assistant for two school-aged children (ages 7 and 9). The role combines hands-on care with a remote planning element to develop curricula and educational strategies.

You will manage after-school routines, assist with homework across subjects, coordinate extracurricular activities, and monitor safety and well‑being while sharing regular updates with the parents.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in nanny/childcare for school-aged children
• Degree in Education or Child Psychology preferred
• Proficient in homework support across subjects
• Strong organizational and scheduling abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• First Aid and CPR certification required
• English proficiency required
• Eligible to work in South Africa
• Willing to undergo background checks

About the Role

Our client, a busy professional family in Centurion, Gauteng, is looking for a highly capable and compassionate Nanny and Educational Assistant to provide exceptional care for their two school-aged children (ages 7 and 9). This role requires a proactive individual who can manage after-school routines, provide homework assistance, and organize enriching extracurricular activities. The ideal candidate will be a strong motivator, capable of fostering a love for learning and supporting the children's academic and personal growth. While the primary focus is on in-person care, this role offers a unique remote element for curriculum development and educational planning. You will play a key role in ensuring the children's well-being and development, contributing positively to their lives in Centurion, Gauteng, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for two school-aged children after school hours.
• Provide homework assistance and ensure all academic assignments are completed thoroughly.
• Organize and accompany children to extracurricular activities, sports, and social events.
• Plan and execute engaging educational games and activities that supplement school learning.
• Prepare healthy snacks and light meals for the children.
• Ensure children's safety and well-being at all times.
• Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents about the children's day, academic progress, and any concerns.
• Manage children's schedules and appointments.
• Occasional light housekeeping duties related to the children's needs.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a nanny or childcare provider for school-aged children.
• A degree or diploma in Education, Child Psychology, or a related field is highly advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to assist with homework across various subjects.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple schedules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, responsibility, and a nurturing disposition.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
