Placements24 is seeking a versatile Plant Maintenance Technician for a Bloemfontein facility. You will perform routine and complex maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, and ensure safe operations across pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyors.

The role requires reading schematics, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently or on call. A trade qualification or extensive experience is essential; shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Plant Maintenance Technician or similar multi-skilled role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems (pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors).
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems (wiring, control panels, troubleshooting).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex maintenance on plant machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in various systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance tasks according to schedule to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and manuals.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies promptly.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Assist with the installation of new equipment and machinery.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring their proper use.
• Keep detailed logs of all maintenance performed and any issues encountered.
• Collaborate with production staff to address maintenance needs and improve operational efficiency.
