Job description

Ivanplats is looking for a MTS Manager X 1 REF: IVP-MTS-2025-01

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, mineral resource management or equivalent; additional and relevant post graduate qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ post qualification work experience.
  • Mechanized underground mining experience, which must include experience in mine design, mine planning, rock engineering, mine ventilation, project management, resource management and cost control.
  • Knowledge of engineering techniques as they apply to ore body evaluation and mine operations.
  • Extensive experience in production reporting, daily, monthly and yearly.

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • Manage revenue optimization through coordinating and ensuring that mine plans and costs are safely and efficiently optimized
  • Ensuring costs are safely deferred or minimized and so not adversely impact production efficiency
  • Accountable for ensuring mineral resources are always available to the business and never adversely impact production or halt the production process
  • develop and implement the Technical Services Department standards in accordance with international and company standards i.e. planning cost schedules
  • Optimize the value of the mine using excellent mine planning and design and preparing cost models for underground mining
  • Apply company propriety knowledge and systems to deposit modeling and calculations
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team
  • Manage and ensure that the Technical Services Department provides full effective and timely support to their customer, the mining operation
  • Provide relief to the Mining Manager as required
  • Co-ordinate with various 3rd party contractor staff within area of accountability

Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Adherence and enforce all safety protocols for safe working environment.
  • Have extensive knowledge and experience in ore accounting and metal accounting.
  • Work closely with all stakeholders for integration of mine production planning and processing.
  • Advise and cooperate with all affected by changes in mine operations and assist in overall mine management through interaction with other departments.
