MSP Technician
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: R18,000 – R20,000 CTC per month (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MSP Technician to join the team. This is a fully on-site role, and only candidates with proven experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment will be considered. Candidates from in-house IT teams or fully remote roles will not be eligible. The successful candidate will provide field and helpdesk support, maintain client systems, and work across a range of infrastructure, hardware, and cloud-based technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver on-site technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and networking equipment
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues
  • Perform system maintenance and updates on servers and end-user devices
  • Install and configure switches, routers, VLANs, and firewalls
  • Set up and manage Microsoft environments, including Office 365 and Azure
  • Handle virtualisation tasks using VMware vSphere 6.5+ and/or Hyper-V
  • Support backup and recovery processes, including Veeam technologies
  • Collaborate with remote teams and escalate complex issues as needed
  • Document client environments, service activities, and infrastructure changes
  • Provide user training and proactive technical guidance to clients
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an MSP (Managed Service Provider) environment
  • Advanced experience with Windows Server (2012 R2 and newer)
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, and PKI
  • Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems
  • Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V
  • Solid understanding of networking principles (IP addressing, VLANs, routing, and firewalls)
  • Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage systems, Microsoft Exchange 2016+, and Office 365
  • Knowledge of Azure, cybersecurity best practices, and backup tools like Veeam (advantageous)
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, MCSA, or MCSE (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (essential for on-site visits)
  • Must currently reside in Cape Town
  • South African ID or valid work permit required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
