Duties & Responsibilities
Provision of an efficient and effective insurance claims service, ensuring that all claims related matters are dealt with within the timescales imposed by statute and maximizing recovery of all monies due to the organization arising from material loss.
Handling and settling claims in accordance with applicable policies and standard operating procedures.
Managing claims within stipulated time frames and as per SLA’s in place.
Entering into settlement negotiations in conjunction with Manager and attending meetings and seminars to alert senior management to developments affecting the industry sector.
Providing Clients / Brokers with the highest standard of service.
Conducting training and briefing sessions for staff at all levels.
Implementing and adhering to a diary system, maintaining and updating reserves, and attending to payment requests.
Managing outstanding claims volumes and estimates.
Ensuring timely responses to email and telephonic messages.
Maintaining proper time keeping and task prioritization.
Attending to any other tasks as assigned from time to time.
Providing a supervisory function over a defined area within the claims department.
Providing technical advice to the area where required.
Generating and using reports from the claims system to ensure effective management of the team.
Managing and reducing weekly exceptions.
Submitting weekly operational reports to the Claims Manager.
Regular engagement with the team to identify and address performance and general efficiency issues.
Continually managing, reviewing, and measuring team activities against targets and SLA’s.
Managing preferred list of service providers and monitoring service levels.
Enabling and tracking system enhancements.
Building relationships with service providers and managing SLA’s.
Making claim decisions within claims mandate.
First signatory authorization on payments.
Ensuring technicians have attended to their daily/weekly/monthly responsibilities.
Managing, mentoring, and instructing staff regarding claims handling and processing.
Ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.
Ensuring that all staff are up to date with product knowledge.
