To attend to the daily operational management for all motor claims matters, including all claims salvage matters across various products, and to provide supervisory oversight over a defined area.
Role Purpose
To oversee daily operations related to motor claims and salvage matters across different products, providing supervisory oversight within a designated area.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide daily operational support for the team, including but not limited to:
- Utilize reports from all systems to ensure effective management: daily, weekly, and monthly
- Manage and reduce exceptions
- Prepare operational reports and proposals as needed
- Provide ongoing technical and operational training on claims procedures for staff and advise stakeholders
- Guide and mentor claims handlers to support their professional development
- Manage and resolve complaints and disputes
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures; identify and address performance issues
- Maintain training materials, process flows, and SOPs
- Improve and manage efficiency to maximize potential
- Make decisions and authorizations within claims mandate
- Review and measure team activities against targets and SLAs
- Build relationships with and monitor service providers
- Identify and implement system enhancements
- Manage claims costs, reduce leakage, and increase salvage income
- Evaluate claims promptly and accurately, determine coverage and liability, and manage reserves/outstandings
- Attend and chair meetings; collaborate with underwriting and legal departments on complex claims
- Manage credit control
- Ensure compliance with legislation and stay informed of industry trends and technological developments
- Train and instruct team members
- Handle high-value, complex, or contentious claims
- Provide high-quality service to stakeholders
- Respond promptly to emails and calls
- Document claims activities and maintain accurate records
Requirements
- Matric
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Familiarity with insurance systems
- Insurance qualification or studying towards NQF 6
- Management qualifications
- RE / KI certification
- Motor mechanical background (advantageous)
- Motor assessment experience (advantageous)
- Registered representative
- Minimum 10 years of operational motor claims handling experience
- At least 5 years managerial experience leading a team of at least 12 staff
- Experience with commercial and corporate fleets, aggregates, and salvage management
- Binder and non-binder experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Management and people management skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
